What we collect
- Emails you send us. If you email a tip or question, we receive your address, name if given and message content.
- Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard technical data such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, kept for up to 30 days for security and troubleshooting.
- Local preferences. Your consent choice is stored in your own browser. See the Cookie Policy.
The tip tool on our Tips page runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type there reaches us unless you choose to email it.
Why and on what basis
We process correspondence to reply and to verify tips (legitimate interests). We process server logs to keep the site secure (legitimate interests). We do not use personal data for advertising or profiling.
Retention
Correspondence is kept for up to 24 months, then deleted unless an ongoing conversation requires it. Server logs are kept for up to 30 days.
Sharing
We share data only with our hosting and email providers acting as processors under contract, or where required by law. We never sell personal data.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you may request access, correction, deletion or restriction of your data, object to processing, and request portability. Email us and we will respond within one month. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
